Rodents present a significant issue to our customers both in terms of disease but also damage to goods and property including buildings and electrical wiring. They are highly intelligent and able to exploit their environment to survive and thrive. This often means they can be difficult to remove, and that DIY treatments can be unsuccessful.

Squeak-a-Boo Pest Management provide effective treatments for rats and mice which focuses on preventing infestations from reoccurring in the future.

With a high proportion of rat infestations resulting from draiange issues, we are also proud to provide an in-house and certified drainage survey capability.

How do I know if I have a rodent problem?

There are several signs of a rodent infestation depending on the species involved. Typically these may include:

  • Burrowing or nesting

  • The presence of feces which are typically small, soft and pointed at the ends

  • Scratching sounds in the walls or roof

  • Signs of gnawing around holes or on hard surfaces such as pipework or electic cables

  • Smear marks, dark greasy stains left behind as rodents cross the same area time and time again.

How much does rodent treatment cost?

Treating rodents can be a time-consuming and challenging activity with multiple factors contributing to the cost. These include the species involved, the size of the infestation and whether any specialist proofing or survey work needs to be carried out.

Squeak-a-Boo Pest Management will help you understand the size of the challenge and the potential costs involved before treatment starts as part of our free survey.

Our rodent treatment package involves three visits to your property which includes the initial treatment, and up to two follow up visit to assess progress and take further action where needed (including proofing where agreed). Following the treatment we will remove any equipment and sanitise the area to ensure its is clean and free from droppings.

In some circumstances, such as where the infestation is large or particularly resilient, we may need to increase the number of visits but will discuss this with you as and when required.

I have pets, will treatment be safe?

One of our aims at Squeak-a-Boo Pest Management is to reduce the potential impact of toxic chemicals on pets and wildlife more broadly. As such we will always employ non-toxic treatments for rodents in the first instance and ensure that steps are taken to make traps safe for pets, humans and non-target species.

Should rodenticide be required, we will follow a strict and risk managed approach to keep you and your pets safe from harm and will consult with you before treatment takes place.

Will treatment be humane?

This is something that we are asked by a lot of customers and in short, the answer is yes. We use risk managed approaches and approved tools which reduce the opportunity for, and the likelihood of, unnecessary suffering.

Please note that the use of live capture traps for rodents is, in of itself, not necessary a humane treatment option and certain species (such as Grey Squirrel) cannot be legally released once trapped.

How can you help manage rodent infestation?

If you already have a rodent infestation then you need to call an expert quickly to help solve the problem. Prevention and early treatment give the greatest chance of success.

There are a few things that you can also do to help make your property less attractive to rodents including:

  • Removing access to food such as bird see and that found in bins or bin bags

  • Removing access to water such as sources found in your garden

  • Ensuring compost areas are protected and located away from your property

  • Removing clutter and waste which could provide harborage

  • Ensuing bins are fitted with lids and that they close properly

  • Proofing potential access points such as those around pipes and doors

  • Repairing defective drains.
